Sections and Folders
Modern Campus CMS uses a folder-based file management system to organize your web pages. Like pages, folders can be added, deleted, renamed, and have their own access settings.
A folder that contains other pages is referred to as a section. Sections often have additional files to determine properties that affect every page in the section, such as color scheme or section title, and to configure the navigation for that section. These files are commonly labeled _props.pcf and _nav.inc.
Use folders for storing files such as images or PDFs and use sections to contain page content.
Creating a New SectionLink to this section
Create a new section to make a folder with an index page and a navigation page (_nav.inc). Files created in your section folder vary depending on your Modern Campus CMS account setup.
To create a new section:
- Go to the Content > Pages location where you'd like to create a new section.
- Click +New.
- In the New Content box, click New Section or a similarly-named template.
- Your choices vary depending on how your account is configured; you may not have a section template, depending on your access.
- Complete the New Section box, as follows:
- Directory Name: Enter the section name that will appear in the URL and the Modern Campus CMS file structure.
- Page Title: Enter the title of the index page.
- Description: Enter a description of the index page.
- Add Navigation Item: Select "Yes" from the dropdown to add a link to the index page in the navigation file for the current directory.
- Click Create.
Are you creating a new section to be used with RSS, such as a new News section? Go to section access settings after you've made the new section to assign an RSS feed.

Breadcrumb SettingsLink to this section
Set up breadcrumb navigation for folders and sections.
You can use these instead of _props.pcf files to provide a friendly name for the breadcrumb text (not used on index pages) and to skip or stop at a section in the breadcrumb navigation. Get the XSL you need to use this type of navigation. Contact our helpdesk for help with implementation.
